Climate change is one of the biggest threats to nature and supporting the energy transition to renewables is essential, however, it is important that solar farms do not come at a cost to nature and realise opportunities to deliver for habitats and wildlife.

Gemma Waters from Buglife will be discussing concerns about aquatic insects and the impact of polarised light from solar panels, and possible mitigation, as well as the potential opportunities for invertebrates that solar farms can provide.

Emma Waller from Kent Wildlife Trust will be talking about potential challenges and harmful impacts to wildlife from solar farms, and what can be done to make them better for biodiversity.

Paul Wilkinson from the RSPB Business Conservation Advice team will discuss a case study of their experience of working with a solar farm business, asking for the right design principles, and the opportunities for birds that can arise.
