On this one day workshop in our Discovery Centre classroom, you will learn how to craft your own woven fruit basket using sustainably-sourced, locally-grown willow. Experienced willow weaver Julie Gurr will guide you through the process of making your own basket to take away with you at the end of the day. The ticket price includes materials, as well as lunch and refreshments.

Julie Gurr has more than 20 years of experience as a basket weaver and is inspired by basketry techniques from different cultures as well as the natural environment and the materials it provides. Julie is based in East Sussex and grows the willow she uses near her home in Iden, see her website and her Instagram page

Included in the price: Materials will be provided, as well as tools to use on the day. There will be a light vegetarian lunch and refreshments - please tell us on booking if you have additional dietary needs.
