‘What is Landscape?’ by Dr Geoffrey Mead. Come along for some ideas that may inspire you to view your surroundings through others' eyes on your next outing!

We all have a different idea of what a landscape is, whether we are gardeners, farmers, geologists, walkers or artists. This talk looks at the variety of meanings of this seemingly simple term and how we have represented the word through writing, music, art and cartography; how the meaning has changed over time and how the history of our UK landscape has been recorded, both from an intellectual viewpoint but also from those who have worked within it.

This talk will be preceded by a very short AGM. I will send details of the AGM, nearer the time.

The talk will be in the Sanctuary (the Church) of the Victoria Baptist Church, Eldon Road, Eastbourne, BN21 1UE, where there is a large, free, car park (the talk will not be recorded or broadcast online). Grid ref. TQ 594002, what3words ///types.flames.pace
