Write a feature screenplay inspired by the landscape and history of Rye Harbour

Course workshop dates:

  • 2023: 24 November, 15 December,
  • 2024: 26 January, 23 February, 22 March and 19 April

What will the course offer:

Following on from our first workshop for beginner screenwriters of short film, this course digs deeper into the nuances of crafting a screenplay. Using examples from feature films we’ll look at how to create dynamic characters and authentic dialogue as well as how to write visually and craft tight scenes within the story structure. We’ll also look closely at genre and how to maximise your chances of attracting producers, directors and funders. Throughout the six-month course, participants will write a first draft film script from treatment culminating in a celebratory rehearsed reading of key scenes at the Discovery Centre with professional actors and a public audience.

This course will be useful for anyone with a basic grasp of screenwriting who would like an opportunity to hone their craft in a supportive environment with peer and tutor feedback.

Location:  Rye Harbour Discovery Centre, Harbour Road, Rye Harbour, TN31 7FW.
