The evening will start with an introduction to the ecology of bats, the identification of local species by habitat, behaviour and using bat detectors.

There will be a short break before heading out along the river at sunset to search for bats using detectors. The River Mole and it’s associated Grasslands is usually a good site for a number of species.

The course is suitable for beginners or those wishing to find out more about these much misunderstood creatures of the night. Families are welcome (min age 12).

Please note:  If the weather is not suitable for bat detecting the event will be cancelled.

Meet at the Bear and Bunny Nursery, Crangal Cottage, Horley Rd, Charlwood, Horley RH6 0BJ

Public transport: Nearest bus stops for both locations are at the Povey cross bridge. Povey cross Rd West is serviced by the Fastway 100 between Maidenbower and Redhill. Povey cross bus stop is service by Bus 22 which runs between Dorking, Charlwood and Gatwick Airport.

This location does not have toilet facilities, participants in our events would be advised to use the facilities at Hookwood Tesco’s in Horley before attending. We apologise that this location has extremely limited wheelchair access.
