Fay Godwin Event - Rye (07/08/2019) Wednesday, 7th August 2019 7:30 PM - 10:30 PM

The internationally renowned photographer Fay Godwin (1935-2005) worked extensively from the Rye Bay landscape during the many years she lived at Pett Level. She was particularly interested in changes to the coast brought about by sea defences, which she recorded in detail during the 1980s, by earlier colonization of the area around Winchelsea Beach and the industrial activities in Rye Harbour. 

At this event, Charles Mapleston’s 2017 documentary Don’t Fence Me In will be screened, which brings together interviews with Fay and people who worked with her. Fay’s archivist and biographer Geraldine Alexander will introduce the film and answer questions.
