Woods Mill 50: Hurdle Making Workshop (10/10/18) Saturday, 10th November 2018 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Coppicing has extensive traditional history and is one of the ultimate forms of managing a sustainable woodland, creating more habitat and greater biodiversity. One of the best environmental uses for coppiced material is the creation of hurdles. Join us for a session in learning the ancient art of making these hurdles, using hazel coppiced from Woods Mill. These hurdles will be used for the protection of newly planted Blackthorn hedge, aiding a huge variety of species including those in decline such as Nightingale, Turtle Dove and Brown Hairstreak.  

All safety equipment, including gloves, will be provided on the day. Please bring suitable clothing and footwear.

Meet at the noticeboard (by the bridge) at Woods Mill,  Henfield, West Sussex, BN5 9SD.

There are a limited number of places available, so booking essential.
