Youth Rangers help create a wildlife haven

After an enormous 18 month break the Youth Rangers are back and thriving!  It's their first month of stacking up environmental good deeds as the conservation tasks just keep coming in.

Last week, the Brighton group helped create a wildlife haven ready for the returning pupils at St Joseph’s Primary School in Hollingdean. This really was a task where young people were helping younger people to discover nature even in the playground. Nestled by the football goal posts they discovered all sorts of forgotten life,  Alec Thomson – our very own Youth Ranger Wildlife Photographer caught a few good finds from newts, spiders and the fantastic Batman Hoverfly (Myathropa florea) – look closely for the Gotham City logo!

Youth Rangers are a friendly group of over 200 young people who meet on Thursdays to take action for wildlife.  Meeting up in various locations, sometimes with local conservation experts and other times creating our own projects. The group really is ‘one of it’s kind’ in the Brighton area and, of course, they really are a friendly bunch!

Youth Rangers take onboard real conservation tasks aiming for real biodiversity success.
