Why not Wilder Horsham District?

As another busy work season begins, here are three reasons to volunteer with the Wilder Horsham District project, a unique nature restoration partnership between SWT and Horsham District Council.

  1. Varied volunteering in your area: Because we are area-based rather than task-based, you can experience a wide range of conservation tasks with minimum mileage expended – good for your pocket and the planet. Upcoming days include Rhododendron clearance, scrub management, hedgelaying, coppicing and heath management.
  2. Privileged access to special natural spaces and people: We exist to help rejuvenate privately owned land, much of which you wouldn’t usually be able to walk through and enjoy. Our volunteers get to meet and work alongside landowners who are passionate about nature.
  3. Contribute to an emerging network of nature corridors: The Horsham District Nature Recovery Network is strengthening every season, with particular areas of connection around Pulborough-to-Storrington, Warnham-to-St Leonard’s Forest and the River Adur.

    Work parties until Christmas will visit Mannings Heath Golf Club, Bramber Brooks, Warren Hill (a National Trust site in Storrington), Aspect Nature Reserve (outside Crawley) and Washington Pits (on the Wiston Estate).
