What3words Stunning.View.Levin

Do you use what3words now? It's so much easier than tracking down grid references – using just your phone to guide you to a specific 3mx3m spot. Every square on the planet has three words and it’s a free app you can download onto your phone. I love the randomness of the words, and really appreciate how easy it is now to find a very specific location.

While the Pyramidal Orchids were resplendent and the Marbled Whites making their first appearance of the year, I joined friends of Ann Griffiths on a walk on Levin Down, to Ann’s favourite spot, where we have now replaced and upgraded the bench in her memory. 

It’s what three words are ///ferrets.stammer.starts Come sit a while and enjoy a first class view of Sussex and Levin Down. It is a site that inspires the love and loyalty of many volunteers, a group which Ann led for several decades as Volunteer Reserve Manager. As we sat on and around the bench, her friends shared happy memories and appreciations of a much loved friend and we enjoyed the results of all their hard work on the site, with butterflies flitting, skylarks singing and juniper swaying in the breeze.

    Lovely to hear we have a bench at such a lovely spot to remember Ann. Ann was a wonderful person and a key figure in nature conservation in the county, always helpful and supportive when I started my conservation career in Sussex. She loved Levin Down and was an active supporter of the Wildlife Trust, and left a very generous legacy gift. We will put it to good use at Levin Down!
