Tom Simpson of the Gatwick Greenspace Partnership wins Environment Award

Sussex Wildlife Trust is delighted that Tom Simpson, Gatwick Greenspace Partnership Officer, has won a Crawley Community Award in the ‘Environment’ category.  

He was nominated by staff at Gatwick Airport Ltd, who said of him: ‘Tom is an amazing human being who deserves to be recognised for using his skills and his passions for the betterment of the community’.

His nomination mentions his work leading a range of groups around Crawley and Horley, coordinating volunteers in conservation work, working with schools, rebuilding footpaths and bridges etc for public access in various areas of woodlands.

Tom was informed by via video link that he had won, and said: 'I am part of a great team, so on behalf of all of us, I am so pleased to accept this award, and grateful for the nomination. Thank you to all our volunteers and to everyone who supports our work.'

Alexis Rogers, Community Engagement Manager for Sussex Wildlife Trust, said 'This is great evidence of partnership, being recognised, working with community and businesses to take action for wildlife.'
