Sussex Wildlife Trust Marathon Success

Thomas Roach ran the Brighton Marathon in an incredible 2 hour 27 minutes at the weekend (17/4/2016) to finish in 6th place and wining the accolade of first charity runner to cross the winning line. Thomas, who lives in Austria travelled to Brighton especially to take part in the race. His parents live in Lewes and he chose to run for Sussex Wildlife Trust because of his strong family connections to the nature conservation charity.

His grandfather was the first warden of Selwyn’s Wood, an 11 hectare Sussex Wildlife Trust nature reserve near Heathfield – a wonderful place to see bluebells, heather, woodpeckers, cuckoos, dormice and wood ants.

Also running for Sussex Wildlife Trust was Sophia Knight from Wills Close, Ford, near Arundel. She finished the race in four hours and 56 minutes in 2,283rd place out of the 10,000 runners who started.
