The beginning of June and the arrival of half term holidays proved the perfect opportunity to introduce 30 Days Wild to two young conservationists of the future. 

Assisted by glorious weather, the attraction of rock pooling off the Sussex coast proved as irresistible as ever. Expectations grew with every stone gently turned and replaced, as did amazement at the myriad of marine life on our doorstep. 

Shrimps, fishes, shore and edible crabs, egg cases of whelk and dogfish (mermaid's purses) - all served to remind of the wealth of marine life on our shores and provided Max (age 4) and Georgia (age 7) with an experience filled with enquiry, exploration and excitement.

Max later proved adept at ensuring a ready supply of mealworms for the three broods of starlings and two of house sparrows evident in the garden.

A tip-off from a friend led to enchanting hours of fun watching the antics of a litter of seven fox cubs - living side-by-side with their human neighbours.

Woodland walks capped off a busy half term week for this budding pair of nature explorers. And, whilst the bluebells were sadly now past their glorious best, the identification of foxgloves, red campion, stitchwort, wild garlic and two varieties of orchid together with the discovery of gym trails and badger setts, proved a great hit with them both. 

Definitely "hooked on Nature".
