In simple terms, tell us about your business and what it does

Driftime® is a design and impact agency, and what we do is aim to create meaningful change within the three pillars of sustainability (social, environmental and economic). In simple terms, we work with business, brands, and progressive organisations in understanding their complex challenges and objectives, then reverse engineer with actionable steps and design solutions that deliver further understanding and measurable impact.

Why did you become Business Members of Sussex Wildlife Trust?

We believe it’s important to invest in our own communities wherever possible. Being between the sea and the Sussex Downs means we must do everything we can to protect both wildlife and biodiversity on our coast and woodlands. Sussex Wildlife Trust does incredibly important work in protecting our local regions, and one that we deeply trust in both our time and investment.

What do you love about nature and wildlife in Sussex?

Because of where we are, access to nature and wildlife is hugely important. It’s literally on our doorstep, and a privilege many of us likely take for granted. Aside from the access, what I love about it is the immediate sense of balance you get. So many of us get caught up in our day-to-day, and it’s difficult to see how it affects you until you step out. Nature and wildlife give us that opportunity, and keep trivial things in their place.

Where are your favourite places to spend time?

I particularly enjoy spending time in both Stanmer Park and Highdown Gardens, where they join and connect to Sussex Downs. To me, they feel like access points and portals into nature that I really enjoy experiencing. It’s a very clear point for me, where I leave my day-to-day behind and be fully present and in the moment. Time seems to disappear for a brief period which is a difficult feeling to create, and therefore one to cherish.

What are your company’s values?

We have a series of values we actively adhere to. A set for the company, and a set for people and individuals. For the company we have six overarching principles…

1. Integrity Over Profit – We believe in the integrity of design and purpose with profit.

2. Empowerment over Exploitation – Design has the ability to empower individuals for better standards, behaviours and trust.

3. Result Over Effort – Each project is approached with passion and expertise.

4. Unity over Division – We believe in the unity of people.

5. Conservation over Consumerism – We aim to advocate ideas that don't come at the cost of the planet.

6. Transparency over Secrecy – We are vocal about who, why, and how we do business.
