Marine Photo Competition 2025: The winners!

Our marine photo competition winners are confirmed!

2025 is the second year of the marine photo competition, organised by Sussex Wildlife Trust with Sussex Underwater. 

This year we had both a popular vote and a judging panel - formed of Sussex Wildlife Trust, Sussex Underwater, a local photography student and professional marine photographer, Paul Parsons.

Judges' winner:

Snail Nursery by Colin Pullen 

The judges commented: "Such an unusual, striking and charming image with a strong composition."

Judges' runners up:

The judges commented: "High quality portrait of an unusual species."


Judges' runners up:

Barnacles and Jewels by Colin Pullen

The judges commented: "Fascinating juxtaposition of very different animals with a common purpose (catching plankton) and lovely colours."

Public vote winner:

Tompot Blenny by Kirstie Harris

Kirstie's Tompot Blenny was a runaway winner, with almost twice the votes of the next most popular image. 

As one blog commenter, Arianne Mortimer, said: "Tompot Blenny looks so friendly and happy it made me smile. That's worth a vote."

Thanks to everyone who submitted entries, and congratulations to our winners. 

As one blog commenter, Michelle, put it, when reviewing the shortlist: "It was a difficult choice. They are all beautiful photos that show the importance of protecting our seabeds."
