Corona Wildlife Diary: Day Thirty-one

With our world shut down around us the uplifting role that wildlife plays in our lives becomes more vital than ever. So, for my own sanity as much as anything, I’m going to keep a daily diary of what I find around my garden. Photograph the wildlife you can see from your window or in your garden and post your pictures on the ‘Sussex Wildlife Trust Nature Table’ page.

We'll be holding the Back Garden Bird Race on Sunday this week (as the weather looks better than Saturday). Same time 10:00-11:00. I'll post more details tomorrow. 

Day Thirty-one

Did he just say we've got at least another three weeks of this!?

Well,  don't worry ladies and gentlemen. I've found the antidote to the doom and gloom caused by the Coronavirus pandemic. It's been under my neighbour's shed all along.

Remember on Sunday when I filmed that female fox with the trail camera? (here). I was saying that it's amazing to think that a family of wild dogs is living somewhere in my cul-de-sac and I was wondering where their den was.

Well, a few nights back, while I was putting an empty tequila bottle in the recycling bin by the back door, I heard a rustling noise. There was something going on just over our wall and behind my neighbour's shed. 

So the next evening I put the trail camera on a tripod, leaned it over the wall, pointed it down and left it there for the night.

Here's what's been happening just 94cm from my kitchen door.
