UPDATE 2 - 11/7/22: Huge congratulations to Paul, he did it! Paul successfully swam across The English Channel, roughly from Dover to Wissant in France in only 15 hrs and 18 mins

UPDATE 7/7/22: Paul has a scheduled date for his solo challenge - Sunday 10 July. Leaving the UK at 7am and all being well, Paul should be in France by 10pm

Paul Bruce has set himself the challenge of a lifetime, an English Channel solo swim to raise money for Sussex Wildlife Trust's marine conservation work.

Paul has been building up his training for over a year now, with a programme of cold showers, winter sea swims, longer spring swims of five hours or more, and lots of recovery hot chocolates. Paul's solo swim attempt is scheduled to take place at the beginning of July (weather permitting) and he now feels "as ready as he'll ever be".

Paul explained why he is so keen to support Sussex Wildlife Trust's marine work "The ocean is an incredible resource for mankind, but just like our land, we need to maintain its health in order to maintain ours! I know there are so many priority 'good causes' right now, but I have particular affinity to the long-term safeguarding of our environment far and near, and I believe Sussex Wildlife Trust do a great job locally."
