Bat boxes along the River Mole
Installing a bat box

Thanks to funding from the Biffa Award Scheme, we have recently installed 24 new bat boxes along a section of the River Mole by Gatwick Airport in West Sussex. These were installed with the help of Surrey Bat Group, Gatwick’s Ecologist, Gatwick Greenspace Partnership staff and local volunteers and they will allow us to record the bat species that are already in the area and monitor any changes in the bat population over the coming years.

Here is a short video, filmed by Rachel Bicker, to introduce the project and we will be checking the boxes later in 2016 and update you on their use.
