Award for Natural History

The David Streeter Award for Natural History in Sussex 2021 presented by Sussex Wildlife Trust is now open for nominations.  Judges are looking for an individual young person who has made an outstanding contribution to the study of natural history, biological recording, and advocacy for conservation or carried out practical nature conservation.

The winner will receive £250 in Natural History Book Service vouchers or their fees paid for a weekend Field Studies Council course.  Nominees should be aged 11 – 25 and the closing date is July 31, 2021.  See website for full terms and conditions and visit here to apply:  sussexwildlifetrust.org.uk/DavidStreeterAward

Winner of the David Streeter Award 2020 was Mya Bambrick who attended our virtual AGM in November and was presented with the award by Sussex Wildlife Trust President Dr Tony Whitbread.  Mya, from Crawley is a young naturalist, birder and A- level student.  The award was given in recognition of her excellent work as a vlogger, blogger and ambassador for multiple local wildlife organisations.

David Streeter MBE is a founder member of Sussex Wildlife Trust and was centrally involved as a Trustee in guiding its work, including serving as President from 2004 – 2017.  As an academic ecologist at the University of Sussex, he has spent much of his career encouraging an interest in natural history amongst young people.
