Sussex Wildlife Trust event at Rye Harbour nature reserve

Watch birds of prey and hundreds of other coastal birds at Rye Harbour nature reserve on Saturday 5 September. No need to book, just come along and enjoy the Sussex Wildlife Trust autumn migration bird watch event.

The saltmarsh, shingle and saline lagoons at Rye Harbour nature reserve provide a vital feeding ground for winter ducks, waders and gulls as well as birds that are on the move further south.

And amongst these gathering flocks there may be a surprise or two in store.In past years ‘lost’ migrants, such as the phalorope appear, having been blown off course in high winds.

Birds of prey are always stunning to watch and manager of the reserve Barry Yates says it is likely there will be peregrine falcons and marsh harriers in the skies.

Approximately a three-mile walk. Meet at Rye Harbour car park TN31 7TX. 09:00 – 12:00. No booking necessary. Donations appreciated.
