And the winner of the Lewes Crazy Caterpillar Contest is...
Sycamore / Katy Peters

Well, it's certainly been a very bleak August so it was nice to receive this colourful sighting from Katy Peters. This caterpilllar of the sycamore moth was seen wandering around Lewes and Katy took a photo of this rather extravagant animal and sent it in. It's certainly one of Britain's craziest caterpillars. After pupating it will emerge as an adult sycamore moth (below) which is, by comparison, rather dull.
