Conservation Volunteer - as part of a Work Party - Ebernoe Common

Location:
Meet at Ebernoe church (down track signposted church, 1 mile east of A283)
Overview of the role:
The Reserve consists of almost 200 acres of ancient woodland with glades and ponds plus 200 acres of farmland. there is a diverse range of habitats reflecting the varied underlying geology and long history of human use. Ancient woodlands, old wood pasture, flower-rich meadows and ponds. Our Volunteer Reserve Manager leads a party of volunteers who undertake practical conservation work.
Type of tasks you will be involved with:
A variety of work including glade maintenance, path clearing, bracken cutting and scrub clearance in meadows.
Experience/Skills Required:
Volunteers should have a reasonable level of physical fitness and ideally some interest in wildlife and conservation. Experience is not required. Volunteers should wear old clothes and sturdy footwear; they should bring food, drink, plenty of enthusiasm and gardening gloves if they have them.
Days/Times we would like you to be available:
Task day is usually the first Saturday of the month all year and also the third Tuesday from October to March. We would like volunteers to be regular for either or both groups, but volunteers can sign up for sessions that suit their availability.
Benefits to volunteer & possible training opportunities:
Health and Safety briefings are given, tools and training are provided. Travel expenses can be paid when agreed in advance. Volunteering with the Ebernoe group is fun, it is a beautiful reserve; volunteer days provide a fantastic opportunity to learn first hand and from others about the local environment.
