Recording wildlife sightings are vital for conservation. Whether it be an exciting rare species or a more common wildlife visitor, every piece of information is key to furthering our knowledge of wildlife in Sussex.

You can record wildlife sightings by using iRecord, which you can visit via the website or app. Data entered here is shared with the Sussex Biodiversity Record Centre team, who are based at Sussex Wildlife Trust, and who hold species data for the county. This information provides an evidence base for wildlife in Sussex which can be shared further afield; with conservation managers, ecologists, council planning officers and government departments, and can provide critical information to protect wildlife in the county. 

If you are concerned about a local planning application which may impact a wildlife site, logging your sightings this way is a key way to ensure the most up to date information on the area is shared with the relevant people - every wildlife sighting can help!
